Aram-Naharaim and United Nations

Meeting on 24-10-2004

 

Sunday 24th of October, a information and publicity evening was organized by the Arameans of Aram-Naharaim Foundation in the St. Aphrem Syrian orthodox monastery in Dolabani saloo in Glane (Holland).

 

The subject of this evening was,, Aram-Naharaim and United Nations”. The president of Aram-Naharaim gave a presentation about the United Nations, de history, the establishment, de various institutions of the UN and the structure of the UN. The audiences were informed about the importance to participate the UN meetings on the Human Rights, to present yourselves as a people to the world, to bring your concerns to the attention of the world community.

Hereafter, the president of Aram-Naharaim explained the audiences the various names by which our people are designated with and the view of the great Syrian Orthodox historians about the origin of our people.

 

Following that, the audiences were informed about the work of the Western missionaries carried out in the 16th and 19th centuries by which our people has been divided and damaged severely. After that; the audiences were informed about the national as well as international activities of Aram-Naharaim. The importance and the participation to the annual meeting of the working group on the indigenous populations in July this year in Geneva, Switzerland was explained. The statement read in Switzerland was explained and read in Aramaic. 

 

After the break the meeting continued and the other activities of Aram-Naharaim were discussed and explained. Activities such as the international campaign against the overwhelming misinformation spread by those who try by all means possible to maintain the myth of the Western missionaries were explained.

 

At the end the audiences were given the opportunity for questions. The meeting was closed after discussion and answering the questions of the audiences!
