East- Aramean Chaldean priest Ragied Aziz Gannie brutally murdered in Mosul along with three deacons by Muslim extremists.

Mosul (Iraq)- Monday 9-10-2006, the West – Aramean Syrian Orthodox priest Paulus Iskandar was kidnapped and horribly slaughtered.

 

Sunday 3rd of June 2007 again innocent and peace loving people were killed in Mosul after the service. The priest of the East- Aramean Chaldean church and three deacons were killed by the Muslims extremists. Ragied Aziz Gannie was the priest of the Chaldean church of the Holy Spirit located in the district Al- Nur in Mosul.

 

Ragied Aziz Ganie was born in 1972 in Mosul and obtained Bachelor degree in Civil Engineer 1in 1993 at the University of Mosul. From 1996 until 2003 he studied in Rome and obtained a master degree in theology.

 

After the service on Sunday 3rd of June, the priest left the church together with three deacons, Basman Yusuf David Al-Yusef, Ghassan Isam Bidawid and Wahid Hanna Isoh and were setting off by car to home. The spouse of Wahid Hanna Isoh was in the car as well.

After few hundred meters the car was stopped by armed men. The passengers were asked to get out of the car. The armed men shoot brutally priest Ragied Aziz Ganie and the three deacons by riddling their body with bullets. The terrorists took their car and disappeared. The spouse of Wahid was not killed.

 

The terrorists had put bombs on the place of the murder so that when the people would flock to the corpuses, the bombs would be blown up in order to make as much as possible victims. Fortunately, the bombs were on time deactivated by the civic guard.

Emotional and crowded service.

Monday 4-6-2007 a very emotional and crowded ceremony took place for the four victims in the St. Adai Church in Karamlesh. All the Aramen denominations in Iraq and non-Aramean Christian denominations were present and paid respect. The Patriarch of the East- Aramean Chaldean church, Mgr. Emmanuel Delly led the service.

The Arameans (also known as "Assyrians" and Chaldeans) in Iraq

In Iraq, there are various Aramean denominations, to mention:

  • West- Aramean Syrian Orthodox, around 80.000

  • West- Aramean Syrian Catholics, around 40.00

  • West- Aramean Syrian Melkites??????

  • East- Aramean Syrian Nestorian “Chaldeans, around 250.000- 300.000

  • East- Aramean Syrian Nestorian “Assyrians”, around 2.000-25.000

The Arameans are, however, hopelessly divided. This caused by the immense hatred of the Western missionaries among our nation. It is this division, planted and brought about by the "Christian brothers" from the West which prevents the further development and and improvement of the situation of the Aramean nation.

 

The West should with persisting of this horrible hatred and division caused by their colonial practices. The should promote the "Assyrian" fanatism and terrorism, a outrages phenomena which damaged our nation severly. The result of Iraq is a vivid proof for this. If the Arameans were united, their chance to survive would be much greater!
